Our journey began in 1989
Peter Lategan began his career in the domestic insulation industry in 1989, specifically focusing on installing ceiling insulation in residential homes.
After a short time in this business, he was offered a sales position in an industrial insulation company.
His clients were contractors who specialized in fitting high-temperature insulation products in places like oil refineries and sugar mills.
The insulation materials used were typically Rock Wool or high-density glass wool, which led to his company’s becoming a leader in the industrial insulation market at that time.
In 1998, We Started Our Distribution
In 1998, we saw an opportunity to start a new venture, Effective Insulation, in KwaZulu-Natal. This company focused on manufacturing different types of thermal insulation products that could be custom-cut to fit specific shapes and sizes for various clients.
In addition, we distributed large amounts of high-density Rock Wool and laminated products with foil or fiberglass cloth.
During this phase, WE gained a reputation for our extensive knowledge of different insulation applications. Our clients were mainly industrial insulation contractors, for whom we produced laminated and cut insulation parts.
One major contract we secured during this time was with DEFY Stoves in KwaZulu-Natal, where we supplied all the insulation components for stoves and heaters.
To meet the demands of this contract, we acquired four large travel head presses and ensured daily component delivery to the site for smooth assembly line operations.
After years of success, our currency has been devalued substantially. Importantly, all our Insulation products were imported at that time.
It was time for a holiday and retirement.
2005 We Decided To Move To The Cape
In 2005, we closed the business as the exchange rate made importing anything extremely costly. After a few years of retirement and boredom, we relocated to the Western Cape and started Roof Insulation Western Cape PTY Ltd.
This time, we focused on installing insulation in residential homes as the market had grown, and new homes were required to meet SANS legislation for energy efficiency. We currently have a strong presence in the market, covering Johannesburg, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Western Cape.
2020 We Opened The First Online Ceiling Insulation Shop
In 2020, they made a new move by launching the first Online Insulation shop in South Africa. The shop offered ceiling insulation products and discounts to DIY installers to save on installation costs.
With tutorial videos and online support, they also provide contracts and assistance to homeowners in creating a greener South Africa by reducing energy consumption through ceiling insulation, ultimately helping to combat load shedding. The company is based in Killarney Gardens, Western Cape.
